Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon is all heart after commuting the sentence of a man given a life term for marijuana-related offenses.
Sixty-two-year-old Jeff Mizanskey is eligible for parole in a decision effective immediately after serving more than 20 years behind bars, according to the Associated Press.
Families and officials have pressed Nixon for relief since Mizanskey felt the weight of a Missouri law that permitted life without parole for offenders convicted of three felony drug offenses. The measure has since been revised.
Mizanskey can now try for parole.
