Apple's Ipods being pushed aside for cooler gadgets such as iPads, Macs and Apple Watches.
According to a report from 9to5Mac, Ipods aren’t cool anymore and the valuable real estate of counter space is being reserved for more iPads, Macs and Apple Watches. Apple retail employees who were briefed on the changes were questioned by the publication. Ipods will soon be dumped in with other accessories such as chargers, watch bands and headphones.
Additionally, Apple will be removing a majority of its smart displays, or iPads that show visuals and information about products, from its stores. Alternatively, the products themselves will display their specs on their own screens, which will be launched next Wednesday.
The rise and fall of Ipod’s fame signals an emerging trend. Since media players are losing market presence, Apple is beginning to shift its strategy to a service-based platform to operate with the introduction of Apple Music. Although being optimized for downloads, the iPod, iPod Nano and iPod shuffle are too prehistoric for Apple Music.
