The internet has been buzzing this week with rumors that former vice president and devoted climate change activist Al Gore will join the presidential race in 2016.

Slipping further and further in the polls, Hilary Clinton no longer looks to be the guaranteed Democratic nomination. Several polls out of the Northeast have shown Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders to have overtaken her in popularity.

With Clinton’s firm grip on the democratic establishment weakening, now is the time for someone trustworthy to step in and take the reins. Could that someone be Al Gore?

Gore would be the ideal candidate. He is a true blue leftist without the taint of Socialism like Bernie Sanders. At the same time, his name is widely known and relatively unbesmirched- unlike Hilary Clinton.

“They are determining if there is a path – financially and politically,” said an unnamed Democrat. “It feels extra actual than it has prior to now months.”

Still, top supporters of Gore were quick to stamp out any hope for such an announcement, saying that there was no truth to such rumors.

Nonetheless, speculation persists that behind the scenes there is a ‘soft conversation’ happening among Gore’s family and friends.

“This is people talking to people, some of whom may or may not have talked to him,” said one Gore adviser.

With over a year to go before the 2016 election, there is plenty of time to speculate.
