Already a number of celebrities are coming out to support him
The 38-year-old rapper is making headline news across the world after announcing his intentions to run for president in 2020.
“I don’t know what I stand to lose after this. It don’t matter though, because it ain’t about me. It’s about ideas, bro, new ideas. People with ideas, people who believe in truth,” said West while accepting a Video Music Award. “And yes, as you probably could have guessed by this moment, I have decided in 2020 to run for president.”
President Obama is not likely to endorse Mr. West, having twice called the rapper a jack***. When asked White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest said that he “looks forward to seeing what slogan he chooses to embroider on his campaign hat.”
However, Kanye does seem to have the Clinton family’s support. Chelsea Clinton, daughter of Bill and Hilary, came forward to support his announcement saying that it would be ‘awesome’.
“I definitely think who runs for office is really important. Even if him just saying that helps spark a little boy or a little girl who was watching the VMAs to think, ‘Oh wow! Maybe I should do that,’ that’ awesome,” said Clinton.
Many other celebrities, including Ice Cube, Rihanna, Alec Baldwin and Josh Groban have come forward to show their support for a Kanye presidency.
Donald Trump also endorsed Kanye, in a way.
“He’s actually a different kind of person than people think,” said Trump. “He’s a nice guy. I hope to run against him someday.”
