Police say video shows a male suspect who was burglarizing the home shoot the woman.
Surveillance cameras have captured a man burglarizing a home and then shooting the pregnant wife of a pastor to death in Indianapolis, police say.
The man is at large and police are asking the public for help in tracking him down. The suspect was wearing a hoodie when he burglarized a home and then killed Amanda Blackburn, according to an Associated Press report.
He was described as a black male with a slim to medium build and a height of between 5 feet 4 inches and 5 feet 9 inches. His age is unknown.
Police have a fairly good picture of the man but so far haven’t been able to identify him. He was seen near the Blackburn’s home.
Blackburn, who was 28, died after being shot in the head Tuesday morning. She had been 13 weeks pregnant with child, and the child did not survive. Their 15-month-old son was in his crib upstairs when the attack happened.
The suspect had been spotted walking around in the general vicinity of Blackburn’s house. It is possible that the suspect saw Blackburn’s husband, Davey, leave the home at around 6:10 a.m. when he went to work out at a gym. It was around that time he burglarized a nearby house.
When Davey Blackburn got home, he found his wife gravely wounded and called emergency services.
There were at least three security cameras that police were able to pull images from of the suspect.
Gunshots were heard shortly before 7 a.m., and the surveillance cameras showed a dark SUV fleeing the scene. Investigators believe televisions and a laptop were stolen.
Amanda and Davey Blackburn, who were originally from South Carolina, founded the Resonate Church in 2012.
