Bastion creator Supergiant is developing "Pyre," a gorgeous new role-playing game that has the video game world buzzing.
It’s called Pyre, and it’s got people talking in the video game industry.
Supergiant Games, which created Bastion and Transistor, is set to release the new action role-playing game (RPG) Pyre for PlayStation 4 and PC sometime in 2017, the developer announced recently.
It will be a party-based RPG will people travel through purgatory to absolve themselves of their exile status.
The players start with a character about to die in a mystical land where exiles are trying to flee purgatory. The exiles must engage in a competition to escape, and the best of the group are given absolution of their transgressions. The other exiles will continue to fight for their freedom just like your characters.
The gameplay is similar to what is seen in Bastion and Transistor. You use real-time combat, and fight with magic and other types of attacks. You can view a preview video of the game below to get an idea.
The game is beautiful to behold: it has vivid, colorful, hand-painted backgrounds combined with 3D models.
“At the beginning of the game, your luck has almost run out when several masked wanderers find you and revive you from the brink,” reads a Supergiant statement. “With your help, they seek to learn the truth about the Rites, a secretive competition through which the worthiest exiles can return home, absolved of their transgressions. As you journey across the Downside in the wanderers’ custom blackwagon, you’ll meet a variety of characters of all shapes and sizes, and learn what’s in store for each of them should they prevail in the Rites. Your actions will determine who returns to glory, and who remains in exile to the end of their days.”
