Fame is not that important to the ‘Man of Steel’ actress
Amy Adams recently admitted that she doesn’t view herself as a celebrity despite a respectable career as an actress. The 42-year-old, despite being a household name to many, shared that she has never thought of herself in terms of status.
She told New York magazine: “I don’t think of myself as a celebrity. It’s not a part of my pursuit. Nothing against those who do.”
The actress – who has a six-year-old daughter with Darren Le Gallo – also calls herself “naïve” and is often shocked by her surroundings, particularly on social media – something she appreciates not growing up with.
“I am still really naïve. I am continuously shocked. [By] the world! How people behave. Like, it would never occur to me to post a picture of myself in my underwear on Twitter. Maybe the 20-year-old me – I shudder to think of what I would have done in my moment of desperation and seeing what I might’ve chased.”
Adams also revealed she wants to portray the late Janice Joplin, who died of an overdose at the age of 27 in 1970. The actress looks forward to a biopic about the musician’s life and considers her journey a “beautiful” one.
She shared: “When people first brought the project to my attention, I said, ‘I can’t do this; people would judge me and tell me all the reasons that I am not like her.’ And then when I started reading about her, I realized that she was this beautiful human plagued by things which are so common. She had a need to find something. People saw this huge personality, but there was this soulfulness and this screaming child inside of her.”
