Mel B feels betrayed after Mel C backed out of the upcoming ‘Spice Girls’ reunion
Mel B and Mel C are currently not speaking to one another after the latter refused to appear in the upcoming Spice Girls reunion. Mel C has reportedly opted not to appear at the group’s 20th anniversary event, where the girls will perform a one-off show next July.
An insider explained to The Sun on Sunday: “While Mel B, Geri Horner and Emma Bunton are ploughing ahead, there is no love lost between the Mels, who aren’t on speaking terms and haven’t been for two months.”
The source also says that Mel B is hurt and angered by what she considers a “betrayal of their friendship.”
“Mel B is angry at Mel C for what she thinks is a betrayal of their friendship and is refusing to acknowledge her. They knew convincing Victoria Beckham to come on board would be tricky but didn’t expect Mel C to back out.”
Mel C is currently consulting various lawyers to see whether the rest of the group can perform without her and Beckham.
A source recently stated: “Mel has told the other girls she is consulting lawyers about whether the reunion can go ahead without her. She believes she brought music credibility to the group and there is no Spice Girls without her.”
The girls have decided not to use the “GEM” moniker – or Geri, Emma and Mel – but still plan to make the reunion happen.
A track titled Song For Her was also leaked last month, their first in almost 10 years.
A source added: “Obviously the girls have been recording in the studio over the past few months. The plan is very much for there to be new music.”
