Rose says she is criticized over her past profession, while men are typically praised
Amber Rose recently spoke up about people who criticize her for being a stripper in the past while simultaneously praising Channing Tatum for doing just that.
The 32-year-old star took on a stripping job at the tender age of 15 to help support her family. Now she is upset over the fact that some people still call her a stripper while being much more forgiving to men.
Meanwhile, 36-year-old Tatum was a stripper during his late teens and his experience helped the movie Magic Mike become hugely successful as a result.
She told Cosmopolitan South Africa magazine: “He even made a movie about being a stripper! And everyone bought it and they loved it and they were like, ‘Oh, my God, ‘Magic Mike’, we gotta go see it!’ But if I did that, people would tell me I was disgusting.”
The actress mainly blames society’s nature over the way some men and women are viewed, regardless how successful she may be.
“I run eight businesses, I’m the CEO of my own company, and still I’m called a stripper. It’s so ridiculous. We’ve had the same life, [Channing] and I, and I’m dumbed down for it. It’s not his fault – it’s just society.”
Rose also insists that her success has nothing to do with being Kanye West’s former girlfriend or the ex-wife of Wiz Khalifa.
She stated: “Everything I’ve done; I’ve worked hard for. Anyone can have fame, but I’ve started companies. I’ve brought my brand to the next level. Nobody did that but me. No one is going to dim my light.”
In fact, her success and strong personality has helped elevate her confidence and overall happiness.
She said: “About two years ago, something clicked. I thought, ‘You know what? I’m just gonna do me and if people don’t like it, they don’t have to.’ It really helped me to have a happier life.”
