The actress tries to pick “fun” flicks whenever possible
Jessica Alba says she tries to go for “fun” movies whenever possible. Although the Sin City star was less picky in the past, she now tries to gauge which films would be more enjoyable.
She said on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert: “It’s different because, it’s more like, ‘Do you wanna go to Thailand and do a fun action movie with Jason Statham for 10 days?’ And I was like, ‘Cool, yeah, sure!’ But it’s less dramatic. I just did it and it’s just not as serious for me.”
Alba used to aim for potential blockbusters with a strong global reach, but now prefers any movie that truly resonates with her.
“Before, I was so methodical – I wanted to make sure that it was going to be on a global scale, any movie that I did, and that it was going to be a tentpole franchise and all this stuff. And now, I just want to have fun!”
The actress – who has two children with husband Cash Warren – also dislikes that she has little to no control of her destiny in Hollywood.
She shared: “I weirdly always approached Hollywood like a business, but now I have an actual business to put that mindset to.
For me as an actress in Hollywood I was never in control of the marketing, the distribution, the final cut, the edit and so so much of my life was in someone else’s hands. So it was quite frustrating because I like to control things, so to try and control my destiny as an actress … I wasn’t able to.”
