Alba: “I was much more stressed and concerned about my body before I had kids”
Jessica Alba says that her two daughters have helped her build more confidence and she now respects her body much more as a result.
The 35-year-old has Honor and Haven Garner with husband Cash Warren. After seeing the drastic transformation her body experienced during pregnancy, Alba has finally stopped worrying and stressing about her flaws.
She told Fabulous magazine: “It’s incredible being a mom, I love it. I was much more stressed and concerned about my body before I had kids. But now I know how silly and unimportant it is, so it’s certainly given me perspective. Being pregnant and giving birth gave me a new found respect for my body, it’s amazing.”
The Sin City beauty admitted she disliked her body image, and even though she regularly wears revealing clothes in movies, she previously refused to wear them in real life.
“I was a lot more critical of my body [before having kids] when it was probably pretty awesome. I was so skinny!”
Despite having access to premium gyms as a prominent actress, Alba says she doesn’t use them to keep her figure. However, she had to undergo intensive training for the movie Mechanic: Resurrection, working alongside Jason Statham.
She shared: “I did a couple of weeks of weight training – you have to be fit to do these kinds of movies. Before that I’d fallen off the wagon with exercise. I go back and forth between crazy exercising and doing nothing at all.”
The actress says she really enjoys motherhood and her children always come first, despite acknowledging the importance of regular workouts.
“There really isn’t anything I don’t enjoy about being a mom! They’re always funny and curious. Of course, they can be little brats sometimes when they’re overly tired or hungry or fighting, but there’s so much optimism and hope in children.”
