The pop star’s new album features “a lot of rage” as a result
Lady Gaga revealed she feels betrayed by those she once trusted, prompting the singer to disclose her experiences on her upcoming album.
The 30-year-old pop star went on to admit there is “a lot of rage” featured in some of the tracks, although she hasn’t been too specific about the things she has endured.
She told the Daily Star newspaper: “I’ve been betrayed by all types of people in my life and thought an illusion was put out to bait me in some kind of way. There’s a lot of rage on the album. There’s going to be a lot of personal things on that record that are written through the lyrics and the music.”
These claims come after she split from Taylor Kinney, and she has hinted the newest album is heavily based on that experience.
“‘Perfect Illusion‘ is also about relationships being in love and so high and intoxicated with someone that you are unable to see that the relationship was not what you thought it was.”
The Poker Face hitmaker – who recently dropped the first single – says that following her last album she needed a break to stabilize. The star described her fame as traumatizing and was forced to rely on medication to help her cope with stress. However, she encourages others in her position to refrain from using chemicals as a way to deal with their issues.
Gaga stated: “I needed a moment to stabilize. When my career took off, I don’t remember anything at all. It’s like I’m traumatized. I needed time to re-calibrate my soul.
I take medication. I’m not saying I feel good because of the medication – I wouldn’t encourage young people to take anti-depressants or mood stabilizers.
I openly admit to having battled depression and anxiety and I think a lot of people do. I think it’s better when we all say: ‘Cheers!’ And ‘fess up to it.”
