The iconic artist has also warned her about smoking
Lady Gaga revealed she has turned to Tony Bennett for love and relationship advice. The singer – who recently broke up with fiancé Taylor Kinney – has reached out to the iconic singer due to his wisdom and highly respectable knowledge.
The Poker Face hitmaker has also avoided these sensitive subjects around her family due to potential drama.
Speaking at Bennett’s 90th birthday concert, Gaga explained: “Because sometimes you don’t wanna call your mom and air out everything because then she’s nervous. Then you call your father, and he gets upset, and he wants to beat the guy up.
So I say: ‘Who do I call when I’m in heartbreak?’ I call Tony. I really do. I really do. I call Tony. [He tells me] ‘Straight ahead, lady. Just go straight ahead. Because you’re a star, and the world loves you.’
Tony taught me to truly believe in myself – the way that I do for others to believe in themselves. [And to] put my money where my mouth is.”
Gaga had recently shared that Bennett urged her to stop smoking to help preserve her voice. She readily admitted that one of her flaws is her reliance on a “clove cigar” despite knowing it’s not healthy or convenient for her line of work.
As a result, the star has been warned by the likes of various other performers including Stevie Wonder and Sir Elton John.
She added: “I know it’s terrible. I have been yelled at by Elton, Stevie Wonder, Tony Bennett, the list could go on of amazing, great people who are like, ‘You need to stop smoking.’ But I don’t smoke cigarettes. I smoke clove cigars.”
