The actor would like to see the movie’s characters grow older
Actor Patrick Dempsey admitted he is open to another Bridget Jones movie while walking the red carpet during the latest film’s premiere.
Dempsey stars as Jack Qwant in Bridget Jones’s Baby and he revealed to have enjoyed working alongside Renee Zellweger.
Speaking about the movie in London, he shared: “It would be nice to see Bridget growing and living her life. There hasn’t been another character like that where you’re growing up with her.”
The star was accompanied by wife Jillian and their three children. This marked the first time Dempsey had taken his kids to a premiere and was happy to have shared the special day with them, adding: “It’s great for them to come along and see what I do.”
Zellweger, meanwhile, admitted she was nervous and scared to reprise her old role because she feared disappointing long-time fans.
“It was scary coming back. Especially since I love this character and didn’t want to disappoint anybody.”
The 47-year-old star also shared the difficulties of reprising a role after many years, which often adds an extra layer of difficulty.
She continued: “I always feel a slight twinge of impostor syndrome when I go to work – it’s an ever-present sentiment for me that I’ll be thinking, ‘OK, this is the time I’m going to be discovered and fired’ – and after being away for so long, it was strong this time.”
Other stars attending the premiere included Emma Thompson, Colin Firth, and Sally Phillips. The film is set for release in the United States and the United Kingdom on September 16.
