The singer insists they now understand what’s really important
It’s no secret the Spice Girls have not been the best of friends as of late after several of them refused to reunite for a planned 20th anniversary tour next year. However, it only took a pregnancy and a hug to bring them back together, at least according to singer Mel C.
The 42-year-old says that Geri Horner’s pregnancy helped heal the rift caused by their past disagreements and made them see what’s truly important.
She shared with the Daily Star Sunday: “Thank God Geri is pregnant because it’s made us go, ‘Oh my god, this is what’s really important’.
Let’s face it, we are all in our 40s, we are all mothers, we all have partners, we all have careers. Of course it’s been awkward – relationships have their ups and downs.
I haven’t spoken to Melanie for a while though. It’s not that I’m not speaking to her but I haven’t spoken to her for a long time. Some of my relationships with some of the girls in the band have been difficult at times but I will never not love them.”
The star also says she doesn’t take Mel B’s recent comments to heart, as the 41-year-old jokingly called her and Victoria “bi**hes” for refusing to join the planned tour.
She continued: “I love Melanie but she is a little bit of a law unto herself. She has her reasons but whatever they are, I don’t know. I read about the bitches comment.
I’ve done it myself when you say something for comedic value and it backfires. Or maybe she does mean it. But I’ve nothing against her. Whatever. It’s fine.”
However, there is no word on whether the entire group will ultimately reunite after all.
