The star also announced a new album to his fans
Niall Horan is having a blast as a solo artist, but says he found it odd recording without his One Direction colleagues.
The singer recently unveiled This Town, marking his first song since the band went on hiatus earlier this year. And although he has much to look forward to, the artist admitted he missed recording with his friends.
He said on Fox FM’s The Squad: “It was obviously going to be a bit weird, I spent a long time in a band with other people. The weirdest thing I found was singing the whole song.”
At least the writing comes naturally for the 23-year-old singer, as he often wrote lyrics away from fellow bandmates Liam Payne, Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson.
He said: “I found that I wrote a lot of my good stuff on my own. It didn’t feel any different. At the start I wasn’t really writing for anything in particular.
You go through phases as a writer where you’re writing a lot of c**p one month and then you’re writing some good stuff. I just happened to fall into that phase where I’m writing some alright stuff.”
Though he’s an experienced musician and quite confident in his skills, the Irish artist wasn’t always sure how fans would welcome his solo track.
“It’s always a bit strange because you know the song inside out but you don’t expect to get the reaction … it’s been crazy.”
Thankfully all seems well for Niall and he recently revealed to fans that a new album is in the works. Some of the tracks were written while on a trip to Nashville.
He previously wrote: “I’m doing the final bits of writing over the next couple of weeks and then it’s time to record the album. Can’t wait to share the album with you all.
“I did a writing trip to Nashville, which was amazing. Wrote some good stuff and met some cool people.”
