Sarah: “They can decide what they want to do for themselves”
Sarah Michelle Gellar says she would never persuade her children into acting as they suffer from stage fright and would like them to be independent. The actress – who has two children with Freddie Prinze Jr. – would rather see them walk their own path and do what makes them happy.
She told People magazine: “It’s different because I wasn’t the child of someone that was in the public eye, and so unfortunately I think the rules are different.
I think there’s a very different pressure for ‘the children of’ … They can decide what they want to do for themselves. I’ll never push them. But, in the meantime, they have to stick to schooling. My kids have too much stage fright anyway.”
The 39-year-old star has had a successful marriage and insists their secret is simply to put in the effort.
She shared: “It evolves daily, and anyone that tells you that relationships aren’t work isn’t in a real one – and that goes for married couples, friends, family. It takes work. We think we’re so connected now because of these different devices, but ultimately we’re becoming more and more disconnected.
It’s about putting that effort in, whether it’s a girls’ night, whether it’s making the most of any moment. My partner and I believe in that. One of the reasons we started [Foodstirs] was to spend time together.”
The Buffy actress had previously praised her husband by revealing he makes her a better person.
She previously posted during her wedding anniversary: “#happyanniversary I love you not only for what you are, but for what I am when I am with you. I love you not only for what you have made of yourself, but for what you are making of me.”
