The singer always thought “this is what adults must do”
Adele – who has a four-year-old son with partner Simon Konecki – says she felt pressured into having children and admits that those who choose not to have them are very brave. In retrospect, the artist felt she needed to have a child simply because it’s what adults are supposed to do.
She shared with Vanity Fair: “I think it’s the bravest thing not to have a child; all my friends and I felt pressurised into having kids, because that’s what adults do.”
And although she loves and appreciates her son, Adele admits she sometimes wishes to have a bit more space and freedom.
“I love my son more than anything, but on a daily basis, if I have a minute or two, I wish I could do whatever the f**k I wanted, whenever I want. Every single day I feel like that.”
Meanwhile, the 28-year-old star previously confessed she is adamant about having another child.
She explained: “My son is about to turn four very, very soon. I’m starting to get very emotional about it because I feel like once they turn four, they’re not really your actual baby anymore. So my womb is starting to ache a little bit. It’s like, ‘Baby, baby, baby. Need a baby, need a baby’. I’m not pregnant. I won’t get pregnant until the end of the tour.”
Plans to expand her family might also explain why the singer is taking a much-needed vacation after touring.
An insider previously shared: “Angelo is the number one priority for Adele. He is the most important thing in her life. She has brought him everywhere with her on tour but as he is starting school next year, he won’t be able to join her any more.
Adele doesn’t want to miss a moment of Angelo growing up and it’s an easy decision for her to give up touring for him. Right now she is saying she won’t do another massive world tour like the current one for another 10 years.”
