Keith Urban, who shares two children with Nicole Kidman, is always amazed by his wife’s parenting abilities. He took a moment to praise the 49-year-old actress by admitting she’s an “incredible” mother and has taught him many lessons about proper parenting.

He shared with Entertainment Tonight at the Lion movie premiere: “[She’s] an incredible mom. Loving, maternal, and [she’s] teaching me a lot about how to raise children, especially girls.

I have no reference for girls. I grew up in a house of boys, so it’s quite the learning curve.”

And the actress admits everything is a two-way street, as her kids are always giving her fashion advice.

She explained: “I would go to the school to pick them up, and they’d be like, ‘Please don’t pick me up in sweatpants or jeans,’ They’re like, ‘Can you just get dressed up and do your hair and put on makeup and wear heels?'”

Nicole – who has two adopted children from her marriage to actor Tom Cruise – had previously discussed her role in Lion. The actress plays an adoptive mother and says she was able to relate to the character thanks to her experiences with adoption.

“I can see now, for ‘Lion’, that it was important to me because I’m a mother with adopted children. This movie is a love letter to my children.

[My character] Sue is deeply maternal and full of unconditional love, which is beautiful. That’s why I wanted to do it. I relate to that. I feel that for my own children who are adopted. It’s not about anything else other than ‘I wanted you.’ It’s that deep and personal, and whatever your journey is, I’m here to love and support you. That’s what I connected to,” she explained.
