The star fears being recognized and overwhelmed by fans
Olly Murs – who was the runner-up on The X Factor in 2009 – insists he is too well-known to go to the movies as fans would immediately recognize him. Sadly, he claims this is one of his favorite things to do but that joy has diminished in time due to his fame.
When asked what he would gladly spend money on, the 32-year-old told Top of the Pops magazine: “I’d go and watch a sci-fi film, like the new Star Wars one coming out next year. I don’t get to go to the cinema much any more, but it’s one of my absolutely favorite things to do. I’d definitely get some cheesy nachos and a great big bag of pick ‘n’ mix, too.”
Despite avoiding these public encounters, Olly will likely take his nephew to see the newest sci-fi flick as he really enjoys spending time with him.
“I’m always thinking about my nephew, Louie, and wondering what he’s up to. My sister sent me a video of him at a mic stand holding a guitar singing ‘You Don’t Know Love’ the other day and it’s the cutest thing ever. I’m obsessed with him.”
And the artist – who was asked about the theme surrounding the number 24 in celebration of his new album 24hrs – explained how a backpacking trip at the age of 24 was replaced by an X Factor audition.
He shared: “I backpacked around Australia for four months, which was amazing. While there, I decided to audition for ‘The X Factor‘ for the third time once I got back. Fast-forward eight years and here I am!”
