The ‘Little Mix’ singer prefers to keep such details to herself
Zayn Malik and Perrie Edwards ended their relationship in 2015 and fans have been increasingly curious about the details of their breakup. However, the Little Mix singer has vowed to never disclose such information for the sake of privacy.
She explained on The Jonathan Ross Show: “For a normal girl to go through something like that it’s hard. I think when the whole world is looking at it and talking about it, you feel a bit [affected by it].
Obviously I didn’t say too much about it, I briefly mentioned it. I wasn’t going to not mention it … You’re in control at the end of the day and I briefly mentioned it, kind of said what happened but I would never get into detail because it is personal.”
And although details are vague, the 23-year-old beauty – who works alongside Jesy Nelson, Jade Thirlwall, and Leigh-Anne Pinnock – revealed some sensitive bits in the band’s upcoming book, Our World. More specifically, she insists that the former One Direction star broke up with her via text message.
An excerpt from the book reads: “It was horrible, the worst time in my life. A four-year relationship, two-year engagement ended by a simple text message. Just like that. Even though things in my career were going really well, it was incredibly difficult for me.”
In contrast, Malik swears that this simply isn’t true because his respect for her deserves a more civilized split.
Speaking of which, the Pillowtalk hitmaker – who is now dating Gigi Hadid – previously explained how his relationship with Edwards was slowly deteriorating long before the breakup.
He shared in his memoir: “It was March 2015. I had been in a bad place for a while and I didn’t see myself getting out of it unless I made a change.
My relationship with my fiancée, Perrie, was breaking down. To make matters worse, there were so many crazy stories flying around in the newspapers about us, and it felt like such an invasion of privacy, it made me just want to disappear for a while.”
