The upcoming faux documentary, 'Fraud,' has been called, "an acid trip of a joyride.”
Rough House Pictures, the joint venture between David Gordon Green, Jody Hill and Danny McBride, announced yesterday that they have signed on as Executive Producers of the buzzed about and controversial new faux documentary, Fraud, ahead of its Denver Premiere at the Denver Film Festival on November 5th-7th and its Los Angeles Premiere at AFI Fest on November 12th and 14th. The film had its World Premiere at Hot Docs in May.
Fraud was written and directed by award winning filmmaker and New York Times bestselling author Dean Fleischer-Camp (Marcel the Shell with Shoes On) and produced by Riel Roch-Decter and Sebastian Pardo of Memory.
Executive Producer David Gordon Green said, “Dean has created an acid trip of a joyride,” while Danny McBride advises audiences to “buckle up!” Jody Hill added, “the whole time I was watching it I was thinking, I’ve never seen anything like this before. I couldn’t look away. I had to see what happened next. It had me going all the way through the end. It’s probably the most fun movie I’ve seen in the last couple of years.”
Of the partnership, director Dean Fleischer-Camp said, “I am so so pleased to be working with Rough House on this film which has been a wild and unconventional labor of love. Their energetic support and partnership on this is a testament to their creative ingenuity and truly thrilling lack of good judgement.”
In Fraud, a family’s home movies document a desperate crime spree and the bid to outrun the consequences. Born from a colossal trove of innocuous uploads to YouTube, Fraud is an impressionistic meta-fiction thriller that reveals one family’s struggle for the American Dream and the mutability of the stories we tell online.
