Writer and director Jenna Laurenzo is set to star in the coming out comedy alongside Brandon Micheal Hall, A.B. Farrelly, Elaine Hendrix and Caitlin Mehner.
Sprockefeller Pictures has announced it will produce the upcoming comedy Lez Bomb from writer and director Jenna Laurenzo (Girl Night Stand), who is also set to star. A.B. Farrelly (Treading Yesterday), Brandon Micheal Hall (Search Party), Elaine Hendrix (Sex&Drugs&Rock&Roll) and Caitlin Mehner (Rebel in the Rye) have also been cast in the comedy which is set to begin shooting in December.
Sprockefeller Pictures’ Martin Sprock (Man Down) and Rob Moran (South of Nowhere) are producing, along with Ryan R. Johnson (Z for Zachariah).
Lez Bomb is a family ensemble comedy about a still closeted young woman who brings her girlfriend home for Thanksgiving, only to have her coming out plans thwarted by the unexpected arrival of her male roommate.
Laurenzo made her directorial debut with her short film Girl Night Stand about a young woman that questions her sexuality after her first one-night stand with another woman. The short debuted on AfterEllen.com, reaching nearly 2 million views worldwide. “After seeing Jenna shake up the Internet and festival circuit with Girl Night Stand, we’re thrilled to have such a talented film maker with a refreshing vision head the team of Lez Bomb,” said producer Rob Moran.
“I wrote Lez Bomb because it’s the movie I wanted to see when I was coming out but couldn’t find. It’s a story about family, love, and the pursuit of happiness despite life not matching initial expectations, and learning to not only accept, but embrace, reality as it lands with a sense of humor,” said Laurenzo.
Lez Bomb was selected as a 2015 recipient of Big Vision Empty Wallet’s ‘Kickstart Diversity’ incentive program which supports and encourages diversity in storytelling by women, people of color and LGBT individuals.
Jenna Laurenzo’s upcoming projects include a feature she is currently developing with Depth of Field Productions. Laurenzo is represented by APA and Brillstein Entertainment Partners. Comedian, actress and voiceover artist A.B. Farrelly is represented by Muse Management. Brandon Micheal Hall is represented by Paradigm Agency. Elaine Hendrix is represented by Innovative Artists and McKeon Myones Management. Caitlin Mehner is represented by KMR Talent and McKeon Myones Management.
