The film managed to win every award it was nominated for
La La Land has effectively broken Golden Globe Awards records after earning all seven prizes the film was nominated for.
The hit musical won in every category including Best Actor and Actress – Musical or Comedy for its stars Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone, and Best Motion Picture, Musical or Comedy.
This achievement managed to beat 1975’s One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest along with Midnight Express in 1978, which took six wins each.
Ryan took a moment to thank partner Eva Mendes along with their children.
He shared on stage: “I would like to try to thank one person properly and say while I was singing and dancing and playing piano and having one of the best experiences I’ve ever had on a film, my lady was raising our daughter, pregnant with our second, and trying to help her brother fight his battle with cancer.
If she hadn’t have taken all that on so that I could have this experience, it would surely be someone else up here other than me today. So sweetheart, thank you.”
Meanwhile, actress Emma Stone was grateful to her family, friends, and “dreamers” as she cherished her Best Actress award.
“I have to start by thanking my amazing mom. Thank you, mom, for everything. I moved here 13 years ago this week and without my mom and my dad and my brother, who has put up with me his whole life. Thank you, Spence, you’re the best.
This is a film for dreamers, and I think that hope and creativity are two of the most important things in the world and that’s what this movie is about. This is a film for dreamers.
