Cannon: Things “go wrong on live television”
Nick Cannon has admitted that Mariah Carey got “a little flustered” while performing during New Year’s Eve. However, the star refused to put the blame on anyone and insisted she merely fell victim to unpredictable live TV technicalities.
The Hero singer was left devastated following the crowded event, which she celebrated alongside Ryan Seacrest. And Nick, after briefly joking that the hitches were part of a “conspiracy,” then backtracked to explain the actual reasons the event failed to deliver.
He said on the Ellen DeGeneres Show: I’m a conspiracy theorist. I think the government did that. They set her up. That was a distraction.
Anyone who knows about performing [knows that] things like that can go wrong on live television.
I do live television all the time; I screw up on ‘America’s Got Talent’ all the time, so when there are people in your ear saying things and stuff, I think she got a little flustered.”
The star was promptly seen removing her ear monitors and refusing to lip sync after realizing the severity of the situation. And the 36-year-old television host, who has twin boys with Mariah, believes that her response was typical.
He stated: “But being the diva she is, she said, I’m just going to walk around and pose for seven minutes. And like Ryan Seacrest says, she can do no wrong. So she worked through it.”
All in all, Nick has insisted that the audience didn’t mind as they were too busy celebrating.
He joked: “They were like, ‘She’s amazing, and her lips aren’t even moving’.”
To date, the singer still claims that her performance was sabotaged by the production team.
