A Great White Shark was photographed and videotaped off the coast of Massachusetts chowing down on a huge whale carcass.
An incredible display off the coast of Massachusetts is making the rounds on the Internet today. Passengers on a charter boat were able to capture photos and video of two great white sharks tearing apart on a huge whale carcass floating in the sea. The video is embedded at the bottom of this post.
It all started when a fisherman spotted a minke whale carcass floating about seven miles from Plymouth Harbor. Scientists from the New England Aquarium decided to move the whale further out to sea, and just a day after that, Sea Salt Charters sent a boat near the area with whale watchers aboard, and that is when they captured the incredible rare display.
“This is the first time I’ve ever seen anything close to that activity with a great white,” Chad Avellar, who works for the company, told WBZ NewsRadio 1030’s Doug Cope. “Every time we do this we think ‘Maybe today’s the day.’ Today was the day.”
