A huge finding by scientists indicates the shape of your face may say a lot about how you view sex and relationships in general.
The truth about what you really think about sex and intimate relationships may be written in your face, literally. Scientists in Canada have published a study in the journal Archives of Sexual Behavior that claims that the shape of your face may indicate not only your sex drive but also how you view cheating on your partner.
The scientists first conducted a survey of 145 heterosexual men, measuring the width of their faces and dividing it by the height of the upper face, and then asked them questions about sex, attitude, and personality traits. They also conducted a survey of 314 college men and women, taking measurements and offering a slightly different set of questions.
The results were illuminating, as people with a high FWHR, meaning they had a square and wide face, tended to have a stronger sex drive and were casual with sex. They also tended to be more comfortable with cheating on a significant other.
“Men and women with shorter, wider faces tend to be more sexually motivated and to have a stronger sex drive than those with faces of other dimensions,” the statement from Springer says. “These are the findings from a study led by Steven Arnocky of Nipissing University in Canada. The research investigates the role that facial features play in sexual relationships and mate selection and is published in Springer’s journal Archives of Sexual Behavior.
“The study adds to a growing body of research that has previously shown that certain psychological and behavioral traits are associated with particular facial width-to-height ratios (known as FWHR). Square-faced men (who therefore have a high FWHR) tend to be perceived as more aggressive, more dominant, more unethical, and more attractive as short-term sexual partners than their thinner and longer-faced counterparts.”
