Authorities in China are trying to piece together how a man who had spent half an hour on the toilet had his rectum fall out of his body in an astonishing case of rectal prolapse. It happened Feb. 4 in the Guangdong Province, when the man came to a hospital to be treated for a rectum that had simply fallen out of his body as he sat on the toilet playing games on his phone.

He became alarmed when a “ball-sized” lump fell out of his anus but remained attached to him, so he rushed to the hospital. The man apparently had a severe case of rectal prolypse, and he had the condition since he was 4 but had never been treated for it.

In the past, the bulge had been able to retract, but was no longer able to do so in the recent incident. Alarmingly, doctors examining him believe that his pelvic muscles may have weekend due to sitting on the toilet for so long, which is sure to give pause to many people who take their mobile phones in to the toilet with them.
