Another day, another prediction that the death planet Nibiru is about to kill us all, and now the people making these outlandish predictions are saying it is going to be April 23. On that date, the sun, moon, and Jupiter will all align with the constellation Virgo, and conspiracy theorists claim this will launch the biblical Rapture and bring about the end of humanity.

On that night, the mysterious planet Nibiru will suddenly appear out of nowhere – somehow, scientists will completely miss a massive planet right on our doorstep – and then World War III will break out. The Antichrist will rise, there will be seven years of Tribulation, and other good stuff.

Christian conspiracy theorists have repeatedly made this wrong prediction in recent years, but their wrongness has failed to deter them from stopping these predictions. Once again, you’ll be glad to know that scientists say there is no evidence that a massive planet is 11 days away from colliding with Earth, or even passing very close to us.

“The Nibiru cataclysm is a supposed disastrous encounter between the Earth and a large planetary object (either a collision or a near-miss) which certain groups believe will take place in the early 21st century,” reads a Wikipedia excerpt on the subject. “Believers in this doomsday event usually refer to this object as Planet X or Nibiru. The idea that a planet-sized object will collide with or closely pass by Earth in the near future is not supported by any scientific evidence and has been rejected by astronomers and planetary scientists as pseudoscience and an Internet hoax.”
